MetricLog — Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 26, 2026
Short version: MetricLog is a local-first app. Everything you record stays
on your device in an encrypted database. We do not collect, upload, sell, or analyze your data.
1. Data We Collect
MetricLog does not collect any personal data. All projects, dimensions, and
records you create are stored only on your device inside an
SQLCipher-encrypted database (AES-256). No account, no sign-up, no cloud sync.
2. What Leaves Your Device
Only two components involve any network communication, both operated by Google:
- Firebase Crashlytics (crash reporting). If the app crashes, anonymous
crash logs and basic device information (device model, Android version, app version) are sent
to Google Firebase so we can fix bugs. This never includes your recorded data.
- Google Play Billing (purchases). If you buy MetricLog Premium, the
payment is processed entirely by Google Play. We never see your payment details. Your purchase
is linked to your Google account so it can be restored after reinstalling the app. Google's own
privacy policy applies to this process.
The app requests the INTERNET permission solely for the two purposes above.
It contains no ads, no analytics, no trackers, and no third-party SDKs beyond
the two Google components listed.
3. Data Storage & Security
- All recorded data is stored locally in an encrypted SQLite database (SQLCipher, AES-256).
- The database key is randomly generated on first launch and protected by the Android Keystore.
- Android system backup of app data is disabled, so your data is not copied to Google Drive backups.
- You can delete all data at any time by uninstalling the app, or export a backup
(Premium feature) and delete records in-app.
4. Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, rent, or transfer your personal data to any third party, because we
never collect it in the first place.
5. Children's Privacy
MetricLog is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data
from anyone.
6. Your Rights
Since MetricLog stores everything locally and collects nothing, there is no server-side data
to access, correct, or delete. Uninstalling the app removes all local data permanently.
7. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new
"Last updated" date.
